I don’t think it would come as a huge surprise learn that (a) I love to read, and (b) I love to track things. So each year, I set a Goodreads goal and spend many hours buried between the covers of great (and good, and bad, and mediocre) books!
This year, I set an ambitious goal of finishing 50 books this year, and I made that goal with a few days to spare.
While there were a few light and saccharin reads in the mix, I there were also some absolute gems (you can find my brief reviews on Goodreads). This is a list of my 5-star favourites, crossing from YA to non-fiction:
- The Hate U Give
- The Tattooist of Auschwitz
- Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race
- Not Forgetting the Whale
- The Illegal
- How to Stop Time
- The Marriage Bureau: The True Story of How Two Matchmakers Arranged Love in Wartime London
- The Secret Life of Violet Grant
- Along the Infinite Sea
Have you read any of these? Have you found any gems that I should add to my 2019 reading list?
If you are looking for more recommendations, check out this post from last year: Read good books or this one on awesome books for kids!
