After a few days in Vienna (and some rather convoluted travel plans), I found myself on the 1hr ferry to Bratislava, Slovakia.
I only had one day in Bratislava, so wanted to see as much of it as possible. We strapped on our running shoes for a walking tour.
It was hawt hawt hawt (38°) so I was living for these little misters.
It was a beautiful city with an interesting history. I only had a sip of the city, but immediately liked it. Clearly great care has been taken in restoring the buildings in the city centre, and there were dozens of independent restaurants and shops populating the streets. I am gutted that I did not have a chance to trawl through the numerous vintage shops scattered around the city, which is one of the reasons for me to go back!
There are several whimsical details of the Old Town that I found completely charming. This includes a series of sculptures erected in 1997, a few years after Slovak independence. Probably the most famous is Čumil (the watcher) by Viktor Hulík.
The site of the first witch burning in Bratislava in 1602.
Here is a photo dump of some of the sights of Bratislava.
