Ngadi to Chamje (1,430m): Annapurna Circuit Day 2

We were treated to our first taste of monsoon rains as we woke up, dashing through the rain to brush our teeth and get to breakfast. We delayed our start hoping the rain would let up, which it eventually did.

The rain did relent a bit, and we set off for the day’s trek.

Water mixing from two separate rivers – where the green and brown waters meet.

A very humid but happy hike, with plenty of waterfalls, suspension bridges, friendly trail dogs, a few friendly trail goats, and brief faceoff with some roving cows.

Prayer flags and views from our teahouse for the night.

A scenic spot but one of the grimmer teahouses. We were given an en-suite with three single beds (ooh la la, so luxurious)! Until we found out that the scent of pure sewage was pumping out of the drains all night, making the room noxious and nearly uninhabitable.

The blood-letting continued – I feel my initial interactions with the ground leeches were prophetic of the day to come…

A classic moment, where I was doctoring my latest leech wounds and one was spotted in our room.

“get it before it gets someone!” – Karen & Rachael very willing to sacrifice me to the leeches.

(avert your eyes if you are not into gross leech wounds).
