Sparkling new adventures!

I still can’t believe it is happening! As bits and pieces start to fall into place, I am so excited to announce that I am heading off on a big, shiny, new adventure this fall. I have accepted a position to do my PhD at University College London, studying the social and spatial epidemiology of psychotic disorders.

I could not be more thrilled!! I am also completely anxious, nervous, scared, and a host of other emotions.

This is a superb, life-changing opportunity to work with leading researchers, to develop new skills, and to submerse myself in new topics in psychiatric epidemiology. It also, hopefully, marks the beginning of many exciting adventures.

It is bittersweet to leave a city I have become so fond of and a crowd of wonderful people, but I know that exciting challenges await me over the sea.

I will be washing up on British soil in late September, and will be there for the next 4 years [So keep that in mind if you have any travelling plans, as I would love to see all your cheery faces and grab a pint or three].

I am looking forward to finding a little nook in London to call my own, as, in the words of a very wise bear (Paddington),

“In London everyone is different, and that means anyone can fit in.”

Since I am not sure that showing up with a “Please look after this bear” tag at the train station will result in me getting a home, if you have any tips/tricks/secrets for living [on the cheap] in London-town, give me a shout.

I will also be selling all my worldly belongings, so if you are looking for a car, bicycle, piano, sofa, bookshelf, outfit, kitchen widgets, and etc, I may have just what you are looking for!

Wish me luck!

xoxo
