Our destination on this Norwegian adventure was Tromsø, a little town nestled in the Arctic. A place of midnight sun, and the location of the midnight sun marathon on summer solstice. Apart from running a very long distance, this trip was a treat because Tromsø is a truly charming city.
This city is home to the Arctic Cathedral, a unique architectural gem.
I was expecting the midnight sun to have an eerie quality, but it was as though it was 2pm all day and night.
We were in town for the Midnight Sun Marathon, but if running excessively long distances is not your thing, here are my top activities in exploring this charming arctic town.
Go visit the sled dogs and meet the cute puppies that will join the sled dog crew!
Go on an arctic whale watching cruise!
You can leave the main boat to take a small rib boat to get a closer look. Added bonus, you get to wear very stylish neon, waterproof suits!

I loved it so much – it is a striking city. I am planning to head back in January to experience the 24 hour darkness side. Really looking forward to it!
